Insulin
is required to transport glucose from the bloodstream
across the cell wall for fuel to provide energy to our
cells. As
our body ages, our metabolism slows down, and many cells
become less sensitive to Insulin or 'Insulin Resistant'.
'Insulin
Resistance'
causes our bodies to require more insulin to transport
the glucose across the cell wall and increases lipid
synthesis leading to Type II Diabetes. Insulin Resistance
is also called Syndrome X and is associated with
decreased energy (a sense of lethargy) and eventually
obesity.
Luteolin is a potent blood sugar-reducing compound,
capable of re-sensitizing our cells to insulin and enhancing
the ability of insulin to transport glucose across the
cell membrane, and may help to normalize blood glucose
levels.
